اغادي الصبوح عند افضل مرسل

ومن برسول الله لم يخش جلمدا

Aghādī-s ṣabūḥa ‘inda afḍali mursalin

wa man bi-rasūli-llāhi lam yakhsha jalmadā

I do have breakfast with the most favourable messenger and whoever be with the messenger of Allah shall not fear arbiter.

 

تولى رسول اللّه أمرى فلم يزل

يساعدنى دهرى فصرت ممجدا

tawallā Rasūla-llāhi amrī fa-lam yazal

yusā‘idunī dahrī fa-ṣirtu mumajjadā

The messenger of Allah is in charge of my affair. He did not at any point in time relent. I, thus, became an illustrious personage (in society).

 

و ان اعتناء المصطفي عين كيميا

فقد صار عذبا ماء ملح تعودا

wa-inna i‘itinā’a-l Muṣṭafā ‘aynu kīmiyā’

faqad ṣāra ‘adh'bān mā'u mil'hin ta‘awwadā

Verily, the nurturing of al-Mustafa is the best alchemy. Indeed (through his blessing) a  popular salty water has become sweet and drinkable.

 

و لان بعير كان صعبا و اينعت

نخيل بعام بيره صار مزبدا

wa-lāna ba‘īrun kāna ṣa‘abān wa-ayna‘at

nakhīlun bi-‘āmin bīruhu ṣāra muzbidā

Through the blessing, a hardened camel became mild and tender and a date palm became ripped in a year and a dried well became frothy.

 

واعتق سلمان بشوق حبيبنا

ولتتناهي لو ملت المجلدا

wa u‘utiqa Salmānun bi-shawqi ḥabībinā

walā tatanāhā law mala'atu-l mujalladā

And Salman (RA) was emancipated because of his yearning for our beloved.A voluminous book cannot  envelope all his miracles.

 

لأن الذي للأنبياء من خوارق

به نالها الْأرسال خيرا محشدا

li-anna-l ladhī li-l Anbiyā’ min khawāriqin

bihi nālahā-l arsālu khayrān muḥash-shadā

Infact, all the Apostles’ miracles emanated from his miracle and through his blessing, they accumulated all their favours.

 

كذاك كرامات لأهل ولاية

فمنه انيلوا ما انيلوا ليحمدا

kadhāka karāmātun li-ahli wilāyatin

fa-minhu unīlū mā unīlū li-yuhmadā

Likewise, miracles of all saints emanated from his miracle and from him they received all their favours in order to give glory to Allah.

 

ايا بر يا كافي بجاه نبينا

لترزق عبيدا ما يروم وترشدا

Ayā Barru Yā kāfī bi-jāhi nabiyyinā

li-tarzuq ‘ubaydān mā yarūmu wa turshidā

Oh the Beneficient! The Sufficient, Kindly provide a servant (Niass) with his needs and guide him. I pray by the dignity of our Apostle.

 

لتكفرن عنا واكفنا الدهر سيدي

جميع شرور قد قضيت وايدا

li-takfiya ‘annā wakfinā-d dahra sayyidī

jami‘a shurūrin qad qaḍayt wa ayyidā

My Lord, protect us from all evils You have destined and be sufficient for us forever and help us always

 

ومُدّ صِفَاتي من صفاتك سرمدا

وكمل لعرفان وعلمي وسدّا

wa-mudda ṣifātī min ṣifātika sarmadān

wa kammil li-‘irfāni wa-‘ilmī wa saddidā

Support my attributes with Your attributes perpetually, and perfect my esoteric and exoteric (knowledge) and let me be upright.

 

وتبصُرني والمنتمين لحزبنا

مناهج حق الحق دهرا مؤبدا

wa tabṣirunī wa-l muntamīna li-ḥizbinā

manāhija haqqi-l ḥaqqi dahrān mu’abbadā

Show me and those who belong to our path, the path of reality forever and ever.

 

وتهدينا نهج الرشاد أَئِمَةً

لأهل التقي والفوز جندا مجندا

wa tahdīnā nahja-r rashādi a'imatan

li-ahli-t tuqā wa-l fawzi jundān mujannadā

Guide us to the right path and make us leaders of pious and triumphant ones, as well as successful army.

صلاه وتسليم علي من سمت به

جميع الوري والصحب والال احمدا

ṣalātun wa-taslīmun ‘alā man samat bihi

jami‘u-l warā wa-ṣ ṣaḥbi wa-l āli Aḥmadā

May blessing and peace of Allah be upon whom all the creation are enhanced with and should include his companions and Ahmad’s household.

At 55 years ago (17th November,1967), the blessed seed that Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful, the Highest, planted in the womb of our great and honourable mother, Hajiya Zaynab Baba Taofiq through our humane, amiable and charismatic father, Shaykh Abdullahi Baba Taofiq, the Galadima of Tsaragi and former Khalifah of Faydah Shaykh Ibrahim Inyas in Kwara State, resulted to the birth of a golden son. He was named Muhammad Awwal. Like sons of all great people, Awwal was born great and he worked tirelessly to achieve greatness. His case was like a father like a son. A poet says, if a son achieves the greatness of his father, he has proven his integrity.

       The young Awwal was given sound Islamic training at home and was also enrolled in western education. After his Secondary education, he was handed over to Shaykh Balarabe Gusau, who was a great saintly servant of Allah, in the present day Zamfara State, Nigeria, for further exoteric and esoteric trainings in Islam (1985-1991). Having realised what laid ahead of him, he knew he had to also be deep rooted in western education. This quest for excellence took him to Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Ilorin (1995-1997), and later University of Ilorin for his BA, MA and PhD degrees.

      His life has really shown that the name with which a child is called, matters a lot. He was truly the first, for he was the first Khalifah of the spiritual empire that his father left behind and also the foundation Chairman of International Organisation of Tijaniyyah Brotherhood, Kwara State Chapter among others. Khalifah Awwal has touched the lives of so many people including this poor writer and indigent servant of Allah. He was an excellent teacher, charismatic, wonderful patriot, kind hearted, remarkable speaker, courage personified and a great author. His work has been referenced by many knowledge seekers both at far and near. His love for our mentor, Shaykh Ibrahim Inyas was (is) exceedingly great. In one of my intimate conversations with him, he said he would continue to write about the work of Shaykh Ibrahim Inyas until death would take him. This is a promise well kept.

       Khalifah Awwal lived for 50 years and 3 months. Until his death, he was a Lecturer at the Department of Religions, Faculty of Arts, University of Ilorin, Kwara State of Nigeria. Undoubtedly, the period he lived was eventful as through him, millions of truth seekers had known the truth about our revered Shaykh Ibrahim Inyas, RTA, and Inshaa Allah, would continue till the last day through many books Khalifah had written about him. May Allah reward him and continue to prosper his handworks and all his belongings till the last day, bijaahilMustafa, SAAWS.
